Taking
care of someone with a disability is a full-time job. It
requires hard work, patience, and good health, and like any job,
an opportunity for the caregiver to receive some "vacation time".
We are here to provide caregivers that much-needed break from the daily
routine of care giving.
Specially trained substitute caregivers will
provide whatever assistance, supervision and companionship your
loved one needs to reduce isolation, boredom, and loneliness
during your time away. We are available for planned and
emergency visits, as well as special services appropriate to
persons with Alzheimer's disease or other related diseases.
The Facility: Our Adult Care Building
was donated by Boeing (photo above left). It has been decorated in a
home-like setting (see photos below) to provide a comfortable environment for supervised
activities. Special areas are designated for various activities,
including a separate dining area. Wheelchair access is
available.
What
We Offer: The goal of this program is to give
respite and support to primary caregivers by providing supervised
activities for handicapped people and frail, elderly adults. To that
end, we offer appropriate seated-exercise sessions, weekly Bingo
games, music, movies, and arts and
crafts. Developing friendships with staff and
other participants is also an important part of our program.
We provide
our clients with love, comfort and good company, as well as curriculum that
promotes a healthy body, mind and spirit.
Hours:
We are open five days a week, from
9:00 am to 4:00 pm weekdays. All clients must be screened for
compatibility with our program, and pre-registered. Our facility can handle people who need only
one hour, a full day, or five days a week, according to your
schedule. Come and visit us, meet our
staff, and see our facility.
