Walk
for Your Life
The
Walk for Your Life
program was started when one of our members was told he had to walk to
improve his heart condition, general health and fitness, or he
would not have long to live. That is why the program is called "Walk
for Your Life". Walking exercise is one of the best ways to improve your health and fitness! Join us for a social
outing and enjoy local parks and forest trails. Join our friendly
group and improve your health and fitness at the same time.
You need to have a good pair of
walking/hiking shoes and be dressed for the forecasted weather.
Rating Scale: A walk rated at
Level 1 is an easy paved three or four mile walk over a two-hour
time; a rating of Level 2 has a more uneven path and some
elevation change; and, a Level 3 rating has several hundred
feet of elevation gain and a more uneven trail surface. We recommend you start on
your walking program on Level 1 ratings until you are comfortable with these hikes,
which last about two hours and normally cover three to four miles.
WE LEAVE AT 9:00 AM
TUESDAY MORNINGS from the Federal Way Senior Center unless otherwise noted, so be there 15 minutes
earlier to sign-in and be assigned to one of the drivers. Be sure you
have walking shoes and appropriate clothing for the forecasted
weather. We will walk rain or shine (but not in icy or snowy
conditions)! Call Al Osborne at 253-880-2800 if in doubt.
Costs are estimated with a $1.00 surcharge
per passenger for maintenance, plus gas cost per passenger using the FWSC
vans at 10 mpg and using the Tacoma gas prices at
Fuel Gauge Report.
